Jacob Bradner

Major: Natural Resources, Urban forestry landscapes
Hometown: Albany, Oregon
In my free time I like to swim, hike, and do woodworking
When I graduate, I hope to find a job that allows me to use these skills that I have learned in NR while helping to better urban ecosystems
My advice to incoming students would be to find friends in the college of forestry. It’s a very welcoming group of people and having people to help you along the way is helpful.
What I like most about my major is the diversity of classes and subjects you get to cover.
Jamie Gassner
She/Her
Major: Forestry, Forest Management and Forest Restoration and Fire
Hometown: Eddyville, Oregon
In my free time I like to go hunting and spend time outdoors.
When I graduate, I hope to find a position close to home where I can utilize my education here at OSU to help improve and maintain the condition of our Oregon forests.
My advice for incoming students is to keep your end goal in mind and don’t be afraid if that goal changes.
What I like most about my major is that it will allow me to work outdoors for my professional career with other people who have the same interests in the outdoors as me.
Andrew Kesterson

Major/Minor: Wood Innovations for Sustainability – Science/Engineering, Minor in Music Performance

In my free time, I like to explore the outdoors – hiking, rafting, and kayaking are some of my favorite options!
When I graduate, I hope to apply my skills and interests to help work towards a more sustainable future.
My advice for incoming studentsis to plan ahead and start early, and if all else fails, late is better than not at all!
What I like most about my major are the small class sizes with passionate instructors that make a difference!
Hudson De La Rosa

Major: Tourism Recreation Adventure Leadership (TRAL) (Outdoor Recreation Management option)
Hometown: Villa Park, Illinois
In my free time I like to mountain bike, hike, swim, throw around a frisbee, or just do anything outdoors in general.
When I graduate, I hope to work for the National Park Service as a ranger and work part time on getting my master's in public administration and then manage national parks.
My advice for incoming students is to just try things out and see if you like them because you might find something you love.
What I like most about my major is that it's made for working as a national park ranger and I will have classes that will teach me valuable skills for this specific job.
Seamus Washburn

Major: Forest Engineering
Hometown: Rossville, Indiana
In my free time I like to go on long hikes in the woods, the beach, or really just be out in nature. I’d like to get back into fishing and archery, and I love to read, my favorite is historical fantasy, my current series is “The Camulod Chronicles”
When I graduate, I hope to find a job in consulting at a smaller firm so that I am out and about in different land plots so I can be out in nature in different terrains week to week.
My advice for incoming students is to join clubs and that just like bikers all of the people in the College of Forestry are sweet as pie. I haven’t met a single person I don’t like in the clubs and the College as a whole.
What I like most about my major is honestly the labs. I get to spend 4 hours a week guaranteed in the research forest.
About the Ambassador Program
College of Forestry Ambassadors serve as student representatives for the College of Forestry (COF) at Oregon State University. Ambassadors represent the College at a variety of events and programs that support College recruitment, marketing, student services, advising, international programs, experiential education, and alumni, donor and industry relations. Ambassadors assist with on- and off- campus functions, participate in professional conferences, attend alumni and industry events, and give forestry presentations and campus tours.
Program Goals:
- Be known to and supportive of other students in the College of Forestry.
- Promote College of Forestry undergraduate programs in the region.
- Advance the mission of the College of Forestry and increase the awareness of COF to various communities.
- Positively represent the College of Forestry with stakeholders, in the forestry and natural resources professional community, and within OSU.
- Support all Ambassador team members in their own individual work, efforts, and goals as well of those of the collective group.
